All retrievers mature and learn at different rates. Therefore retriever training times can very depending on your retrievers natural instinct and hunting desire. We encourage owners to be apart of the training program.

1. Try to use more praise when you are training your dog. Let your dog know he or she is doing a good job. That will be what your dog strives for after a while. Success and pleasing you.

2. Bring your young dog out of the kennel or crate allow them to do their business. Then start with your training. After your training session allow them to have fun. Fun bumpers or just some running around.

3. Stay consistent with your training. 10 to 15 minutes a day will do wonders.

4. Start your new puppy on a clipped wing as soon as you can. This will introduce them to the smell and feel of feather in their mouth.

5. Try and bring in some fun to your train. It doesn't always have to be about work.

6. Introduce your new pup to new training areas, people and surroundings.

7. Build confidence by frequent successes. Don't always make training set ups that are going to have your dog fail.

8. Be patient and don't force new training set ups on a young dog. Teach them what you want first. Then do the same set ups in a couple of days and see if your dog has learned what you taught him or her.

9. Keep your dogs weight in line with his or her body structure and height. When dogs are over weight it does not help their joints or energy levels.

10. Remember dogs are pack animals and they are always looking for the pack leader. You are the pack leader. Make sure your dog knows who is in charge.
